PROFILE OF JONAS N.K. ODOCHA, FNAPE; FNMGS.
Jonas Odocha is the Chairman/CEO of JONAKOD NIGERIA LTD, an independent Energy, Environment and Safety consultancy. Odocha holds a degree in Geology from the University of Ibadan  and postgraduate degrees in Petroleum Geology and Sedimentology from Imperial College, University of London .
His experience in the Oil and Gas industry which spans over 33 years commenced in 1973 with Mobil Producing Nigeria as a Junior Geologist. He joined NNPC in 1978 as a Senior Geologist after obtaining M.Sc and DIC from Imperial College, London.
He had extensive work programmes in Exploration and Production, both offshore and onshore, including the frontier Chad Basin, as a pioneer explorationist. Held various cross-functional positions such as Chief Geologist Exploration Special Projects; Manager Environmental Protection and Safety; Manager Government and Community Relations of NNPC Group Public Affairs. In 2001 was appointed a Special Depot Manager, a Presidential Task Force to revamp the products supply chain of the PPMC.
In 2002 he was seconded to Nigeria LNG Ltd as General Manager, Human Resources in which capacity he implemented and supervised the Nigerianisation schedule. In January 2006, Odocha was appointed NNPC Group General Manager, Human Resources; taking charge of NNPC Administration, Personnel, Training and Development, and Security.
Since retirement he has set up an independent consultancy focusing on:

- NIGERIAN CONTENT
Odocha is a founding member and Fellow of NAPE[Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists]; a past President and Fellow of NMGS [Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society]; a member of the AAPG [American Association of Petroleum Geologists] since 1975; an honorary member, Nigerian Gas Association; member Geological Society of Africa; member International Institute of Risk and Safety Management; member Institute of Personnel Management; member Nigerian Institute of Public Relations and a Knight of Saint Christopher.
He attended numerous professional, technical and management courses and international conferences where he presented technical papers. Recently has been assisting with lectures in Petroleum Geology in the academia and tertiary institutions.
A keen sportsman and a pioneer of the Nigeria Oil Industry Games in which he held the championship Gold in Lawn Tennis, veteran category for 3 consecutive competitions. He retired from competitive tennis after the 2004 games where he won Silver. In 2006 he was presented with the Evergreen Award by the Nigeria Oil and Gas Industry games organizers.
A prolific writer on contemporary social and national issues, he is married to Ngozi and both have 4 children and 2 granddaughters.
